So excited to have Shireen guest posting for me today! I love makeup tips so I was so excited that her post is all about makeup today!
I am guest posting over at her blog showing you how I do my curly/wavy hair :)
Hi everyone, I'm Shireen the quirky, sometimes sharp tongue author of Reflection of Sanity. I would like to say a special thank you to Candace for the opportunity to hijack her blog for today. I promise I won't be naughty...maybe.
I migrated from Malaysia to Canada in September last year so this whole business with four seasons is very new to me. One might think with my background (Malaysia is a hot, humid tropical country) I would thoroughly enjoy Summer however, I must say pfft! to the heat. The crazy heatwave that we've been experiencing has not helped and I could not be more eager for the arrival of Autumn.
So today I'll be sharing about my go to Summer look. It's quick and very easy because as a mum of a 16 month old, time is a sacred luxury.
PERFECT BASE, PERFECT DAY
Hada Labo Air BB Cream SPF50 PA+++ has been the only base product that I've been reaching for. It's light with medium coverage and the biggest bonus is it comes with a high spf. Concealer is any mum's best friend and my HG concealer is Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. It's creamy with medium coverage and doesn't crease or settle into fine lines which at my age, I have one too many. To avoid looking like an extra from The Walking Dead, I rely on NYX Powder Blusher in Dusty Rose and finally, I set my base with my latest obsession, City Color HD Powder. I rarely use powder due to my dry skin but this HD powder leaves my skin feeling so soft and matte even after a sweaty yoga session.
LET'S SMILE WITH THE EYES
I always prime my eyes before eyeshadow application and Essence I Love Stage Primer is my main drugstore choice, it's dirt cheap but great quality. This will be followed by a quick swipe of shimmer on my lid to crease with Nudestix Magnetic Eye Color in shade Glit and then I'll use Light Brown shade from Dr. Hauschka Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette to blend at the crease. I am in love, love, love with this palette because it's so versatile! The soft grey shade is also perfect for my brows, as I said, it's very versatile.
As for eye liner, I am currently head over heels in love with Avon Ultra Luxury Eye Liner in Charcoal. Grey is a less intense option instead of the usual black and brown eye liners. My current favourite mascara is CoverGirl Super Sizer which is surprisingly good. I have to be really picky with my mascaras no thanks to my stick-straight, short and sparse lashes but Super Sizer gives length, volume and separates my lashes beautifully. And finally a quick swipe of Benefit Gimme Brow gives me a put together brows, ready for the day.
MY, MY CHERRY LIPS
Last but not least, I always prime my lips with Carmex which has SPF 15 (yay to SPF!). I usually apply it before I start applying my makeup so by the time I am ready to apply lipstick, the lip balm has prepped my lips. My favourite Summer lipstick has been Milani UpTown Mauve, it's bright, bold and just gorgeous.
The end look is very soft, natural with a bright lips. What is your go to Summer makeup?
