The story of us part 2: | LOVELY LITTLE RANTS

The story of us part 2:

Back when we were just friends

part 1 | part 3 | part 4

Ok so I lied. I guess I did reach out while he was on his mission. Once. As a missionary, you start out in the MTC (missionary training center) and learn your mission language as well as refreshing up on the doctrine of the Church and learning how to teach people.  Here was my one and only letter:
You know what that is? It's proof. haha Jason SWEARS he never received this email and is convinced it never took place. But I share this proof to prove that I at least emailed him once. And that was the extent of us talking for the next two years.

I went to BYU Idaho January 2011 and dated, left in April 2011 and moved to Provo, Utah and dated some more. After I decided my Provo days needed to come to an end (and that I should actually go to school and graduate) I moved back to Arizona and went to school. and dated. Oh man, if you go back in my archives, you'll find some angsty dating stories because I LOVE DATING (jk Dating sucked and holy crap am I glad to be married)

Anyways, Jason returned home from his 2 year mission in March of 2013 and we immediately reconnected. We were in the same singles ward for church and so we saw each other every Sunday in the meetings. I don't exactly remember when, but one night when we were hanging out very shortly after he got home from his mission, we went hot tubing at my apartment. Jason asked me if i could ever see us dating. I said something like "ummm probably not, not anytime soon anyways" I meant it as "nope, #friendsforlife" he says he took it as "not any time soon=I'll try again later"

We hung out all the time and were best friends! I would tell him about my boy problems and we went on a lot of FRIEND dates haha
I guess I just assumed he knew these dates wouldn't lead anywhere so I never said anything. My roommate mentioned that I should probably remind him of how much I enjoyed our FRIENDship so I did. I guess J didn't think I was still just wanting to be friends.

He stopped asking me on dates and started meeting other girls. We didn't hang out as much but still saw each other every Sunday and he would fill me in on his love life.He did date a girl semi-seriously and then one day they broke up! He called me immediately and I was ready to comfort this broken heart. He came over and was totally fine. He wasn't even sad because he knew it wasn't right with that girl. So we just hung out and talked as usual. Ps he handles breakups 100000% better than I ever did.

He knew we were still strictly friends (I think??) and we still didn't hang out AS much, maybe a date here and there but we still talked often. One sunny day in October my roommates and I decided to have a party at our apartment (aka our Fall Festival where 2 of my roomies met their now husbands, just sayin) and Jason had a corn hole game that I wanted to borrow.
I asked him if we could borrow it and he readily agreed. The day came for our big fall festival and we headed over to Jason's to pick up the game. Little did I know, this day marked the beginning of my oh so secret crush on Mr. J himself.

  10. I tried to friend zone my husband when we first started talking because he lived in a different state than I and I didn't want a long distance relationship. That didn't really work out so well because the more we talked, the more it was clear we were going to be more than just friends haha. way to leave it on a cliffhanger!

  11. Awwww friends dates!!! For a while when John was in college, I would go up there once a week and we would go on a "friend date" (he was going through a hard time I was trying to distract him) and his roommates would always be like "JOHN YOUR GIRLFRIENDS HERE!" and I was like, shut up you idiots. Hopefully when you had a crush on him, he still had a crush on you ;) You're seriously making me want to write one of these...maybe I'll wait until our 2 yr anniversary to novel it all out. It would take like 100 parts lol.

    1. hahah I love it! I bet John LOVED the "friend dates" so much :) PLEASE WRITE ONE! seriously I would love it. And you have to write it soon because the longer you wait the more details you forget. Writing mine I keep having to reference my journal and Jason to make sure I'm saying everything correctly haha
