The ghost of Halloween past | LOVELY LITTLE RANTS

The ghost of Halloween past

This is a little #tbt from last years Halloween! This is one of my favorite pictures of us :) I made that tutu thing and Jason IS in fact wearing a pair of my leggings!! They only went up to his mid thigh so thank heavens Mickey wears shorts or else we would have had probs.

I am just going to come right out and admit that I love Halloween. I don't know why or what it is but I just LOVE it! I remember growing up and just loving the crisp fall air and the crazy excitement of it being Halloween, literally counting down the hours until it was FINALLY time to trick or treat. Pretty sure I was always the first person out on the street begging for candy haha. Funny thing is, I'm really not a huge candy fan but I loved trick or treating. I think it was mostly just the memories and costumes that I loved most.

I love going all out but I refuse to ever have a dumb couples costume (ie: like a pair of boobs or fork and knife, basically everything on this page is a great example of stupid couples costumes) I will be that mom that coordinates a family costume and my kids might hate me for being so into it but it's ok YOU'LL THANK ME WHEN YOU'RE OLDER, KIDS. (hopefully)

So we haven't done ANYTHING fall related, it's basically been like a normal month with no pumpkins or scary clowns or haunted houses and that is going to change. I think I got my love for traditions from my dad, he was always really good at keeping holiday traditions afloat and fun for us :) I LOVE traditions and I failed last year at any sort of tradition attempt, so this year I am back at it, plus carving pumpkins is about as American as baseball, am I right? So we have to do it, because #merica (sorry for spelling it that way, Kels ;) haha my old roommate who reads my blog HATES when people spell it Merica so here is your public apology)

Do you guys have fall traditions? Tell them to me so I can copy you, k? It's literally tradition season with Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner and I need to step up my tradition game! Also, here's one of my fave Halloween tbt's for ya:

My brothers and me (please tell me that's correct grammar)
Barney aka Craig is my twin in real life in case you didn't know AND he is like a foot taller than me now. I remember I was obsessed with being baby bop and I LOVED this costume so don't make fun of me ;) I think it's funny they even have name tags on the shirts because OBVIOUSLY it's Barney and Baby bop, ya can't mistake that.

Anyways, I am currently trying to find an excuse to dress up again on Halloween so suggestions are welcome ;) It's like a sin not to dress up so obviously it needs to happen one way or another. We have a work Halloween BBQ later today and I kind of pushed for costumes (k I suggested it to one person) and it got shut down so.... that plan is foiled. I hope you guys all have a great Halloween, whether you're as obsessed with it as me or not! Be safe because Halloween also brings out the weird crazy people of the world.

xo

ps. how many times did I say Love in this post? haha clearly I'm a huge Halloween fan. k bye.

  6. I'm think you should just wake up tomorrow, put the onesie on and keep it on all day no matter what you do. Like grocery store, lowes (lol) whatever just wear the costume! People will love it. Are you guys passing out candy? Because that's obviously a reason to wear it. Do kids these days even know what Pokemon is though? Is it on tv? I have no idea just a thought. And your Barney and baby bop are omg adorable!! Baby bop was kind of the cutest trying ever, like her little voice! So cute. Apparently John was a huge Barney fan as a child and I always make so much fun of him because there's a framed photo at his parents house of him with his Barney doll. Like its a professional photo lol..

    1. I SHOULD HAVE. Like you saw today, I was too scared haha but it was such a good idea! I just need to be confident next year :) We live in a Condo so we are tucked in a corner and no kids come into the boring condos haha which was fine with me I guess! I'm excited for when we have a house one day to pass out candy. I think pokemon MIGHT be on TV? But like with really weird ones that are just crazy (I think???!) I know it's on netflix! Whenever I nanny, Jason always gets the boys to watch it haha That is soooo funny about John!! And even more funny because,,, we totally have professional pictures done where I'm holding baby bop :) haha must have been a trend or something??

  9. You guys in your Mickey and Minnie costumes are adorable!!
I dont have any real Fall traditions yet. We try and go to a pumpkin patch or apple picking every year (usually with our nieces and nephew). I think more Fall traditions will happen when we have kids.

  16. You guys were absolutely precious last year! Love those costumes! And hilarious that he's wearing your leggings! Thank goodness for shorts for sure! ;)

I'm not huge into Halloween (please still be my friend!) other than that I like dressing up. Which of course we aren't doing this year, ha! Most years we do, though, and it's always fun. But that's just about the only thing I like about Halloween. I can't eat sweets so that part doesn't appeal to me and I don't like spooky/creepy/scary stuff... so that's all out too, haha! My husband really likes Halloween, though, so I try to like it a little bit to support him. ;)

    1. Of COURSE we're still friends BUT if you ever move to AZ, you're invited to our Halloween party and you have to dress up ;) haha We're like opposites! Jason isn't a big Halloween fan at all but luckily he puts up with me and my antics! thank goodness. I don't really like sweets, either, but for some reason I just love Halloween!

  17. Girl, that tutu is amazing! I can't believe you made it! Are you giving away treats this year? Maybe you can dress up for the kiddos that knock on your door. PS- i need suggestions for a fun, free, easy costume. Any ideas?

    1. Thank you!! It wasn't too hard to make, just took some time! And super cheap :) Be a ghost!! Classic Halloween and if you have an old sheet and some white paint, it's free! I'll keep thinking, that was the first thing that popped into my head!

  18. Mickey and Minnie is such an adorable couples costume. I made my sister her Minnie Mouse costume for her work costume contest, but the only thing I was missing were those darn yellow shoes! Omg barney & baby bop, I die. You should totally do that as a couples costume!!

    1. Thank you!! :) Did she win her costume contest?!! Yesss you noticed the yellow shoes!! haha I was hoping someone would notice them because I was proud of them :) Barney + Baby Bop would be a super funny adult couples costume, I guess i need to start convincing Jason to do it now!!
