My mom got us this smoothie maker thing for Christmas (basically just like the magic bullet but a different brand) and it's been so perfect! The cup you blend in is the perfect serving and I feel like I've finally perfected my smoothie recipe. Obviously a blender also works perfect for this, too! Plus it's literally SO EASY and really takes 5 minutes or less to make. I buy everything from Trader Joe's so it's either organic or I like to think it's better than walmart produce haha. Here is what I do!
1. Take a big handful of spinach (I guesstimate it's like a cup) and put it in the bottom, toss in the strawberries, pour in orange juice to almost cover (but not quite) the spinach and blend that! Obviously you can use water to make it more healthy with less sugar BUT I think the Orange juice makes it taste so so good!! Plus, vitamin C people. We all need it.
2. Once that's all blended, peal a banana (obvi) and break it so it fits, then I cut an apple up and put in as much as it as I can! Sometimes I can fit an entire apple but sometimes it gets too full so I can almost fit an apple. Either way I eat the rest of it if it doesn't fit. Blend all of that. Add more OJ or water if it needs a little more liquid in there to blend.
3. Optional to make it MORE healthy! Pour in a tablespoon of chia seeds and let that sit for a second while the seeds puff up.
Typing this out too because why not:
1 cup spinach
5-8 strawberries
BLEND
1 banana
1 apple
1/4 cup orange juice (or water)
BLEND
Add more liquid as needed!
Extra: add chia seeds
The only reason I blend in between ingredients is because my blender cup is too small to add everything at once before I blend it. If you use a normal size blender, you can blend it all at the end and it'll be just as perfect.
Wa-la! You're done! This smoothie makes me full and feel good, plus then I get in a lot of spinach and there's enough fruit that it's more fruity vs leafy tasting. I want to build up to adding some kale but I'm taking my time on that. I HEARD kale is strong and changes the taste a lot so I'm scared. Does it??
If you try this let me know what you think! If you like it, please share it with your friends or pin it (Please :) ) you guys are the best ever!

ReplyDeleteyes exactly!! :)
DeleteYummy, I might need to hop back on the smoothie for breakfast train...
ReplyDeleteI like kale in smoothies! Although, I don't mind the taste of kale or spinach so maybe I'm not the best judge ;)
I tried kale and it wasn't that bad!! Like at all! Just made it taste more leafy but I didn't mind it :) Glad I listened to you!
DeleteThat looks so good! It has been awhile since I have been on a smoothie kick but I need to get back to them.
ReplyDeleteThey are super yummy and soooo easy!!
DeleteI wonder how these would freeze up? Have you tried? I'd love to have a smoothie I could grab on my way out the door in the morning!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried freezing them but I bet it wouldn't be bad at all! Or even just making smoothie bags filled with the ingredients (minus liquids) and then just tossing everything in the blender, that would make it so quick!
DeleteI'm just getting over a stomach bug and this smoothie looks like heaven!!! I must make it when I have more energy......cause I'm pretty sure it would solve all of my problems. Smoothies are my kryptonite!
ReplyDeleteAwhh I'm glad you're better, that is the worst! (assuming you're better cause I am replying so late haha) Smoothies are so so so good and easy!
DeleteI have been craving smoothies lately. I eat the same thing every day for breakfast, maybe I should switch it up and do this instead! I seriously hate washing the blender though haha. I would love to have an individual size one!
ReplyDeleteYou should try it!! They are a nice switch from cereal (my other go to haha) and super easy to make!
DeleteYay I looove smoothies, but usually only make them in the summer when the weather in nicer. I may need to just whip this up for work in the mornings though, sounds filling and healthy!!!

It's super easy, too! You'll love it :)
DeleteI made a smoothie yesterday and it took me like 15 minutes lol. I love spinach. Love it love it love it. I throw it in everything I can. I always buy giant things of spinach at Costco and freeze some in little bags for smoothies. Kale on the other hand, no thanks lol. Not my favorite. I have never put apple in my smoothie though. I should try that. The apple and orange sound good together. I wish it would warm up so I could actually enjoy smoothies more though...I need to move to Arizona.
ReplyDeletehahah what did you put in yours??! I WISH I loved spinach and freezing it is so smart and would make it even quicker/ easier. I tried kale and it really didn't change the taste much at all so I think I'll keep kale on the list of stuff I throw in. Yeah move to AZ!!! haha it was 72 degrees today! Winter doesn't really exist here.
