Picture project | LOVELY LITTLE RANTS

Picture project

Last year I decided I wanted to do something different with pictures. I bought 2 disposable cameras and decided that I would try to take more pictures on those to get some cool raw photos! I just think that it is so fun to take a picture and then have no clue how it will look until it is developed. No deleting and no knowing if you're even in the shot, just raw pictures of whatever you are lucky enough to capture!

I love looking at old photo albums where this was the normal and only way to take pictures! Where photos are "imperfect" and in the moment and you get what you get! You would only take a picture or two at a time so that you didn't waste film and it was was a big surprise with how it would turn out. Just something about them seems 100x more real than cell phone or digital camera pictures. They're filled with more raw emotion and they just seem more authentic to me. I had the intention of going through a whole camera each month of the year and well... I actually only used 1 the whole year and would take pictures whenever I remembered I had it in my purse! This year I plan to use more of these cameras (maybe not 1 a month, but maybe 1 every other month?)

I finally got them developed and it was fun to look back and remember these little moments in our lives. Whenever I would ask a stranger to take a picture with my disposable camera, they would always look kind of confused and you could tell they either had never seen one before or didn't think they still existed! haha I love how they turned out. Plenty of them are over and under exposed, half the time someone is slightly cut out, they're just fun and imperfect and exciting to me :)

I decided to call this my picture project because 1. alliteration and 2. I still have that zest and think it's the coolest thing! I love my digital camera, obviously, but this is just a fun way to keep up the raw and imperfect memories that I want to keep forever! Oh and if you didn't notice, YES I changed my design again haha (surprise, surprise) I really did love my old design but there were a few things I wanted to do with it that I couldn't quite get right! I've been looking for a super clean and fresh look and I was super glad to find it! Plus new look for 2016, why not!? Guys I am so excited for this year. Lots of exciting things to come :) We filmed a vlog this weekend so keep a lookout for that later this week!

  2. I swear to god yesterday I hung up pictures over my computer with string and little laundry clips too lol!! I really had no idea though that you could still buy disposable cameras. I don't remember the last time I saw any in the stores lol. I used to be a disposable camera freak though. Like I have boxes and boxes and boxes of pictures from high school. I was actually thinking the other day how someday I need to go through them and get rid of the "really bad" ones before my future kids get their hands on them someday hahaha.

    1. Whattttt!! We're literal twins haha I want to see what yours look like, I love the look of it! And it's cheap decorating haha So at walmart they have it behind a counter, I had to ask for one to buy it! So I don't think they are like out in the open, kind of just stashed for the freaks who still use them (me) K and that is so awesome!! I want to have boxes upon boxes of pictures that I will spend hours looking at haha And that's even more fun they're from high school!! All my HS pictures were taken in the myspace age and i delete myspace so I don't have all those pictures anymore! I didn't think to save them when I was in HS, doh.

  3. What a fun idea! I love the idea of not quite remembering what you took photos of- I'm sure it will jog some memories of just regular every day moments! Sweet :)

  6. What a great idea! You're so right about how much digital has changed things when it comes to photography! I have so many scrapbooks full of crazy pictures from middle school and high school and even my first year of college before I got my first digital camera. I love digital and it definitely makes my job MUCH easier, but there's something to be said for the raw imperfections of film. :) Fun idea, girl!

    1. Oh yeah totally!! I miss the scrapbooks!! haha and for sure, I LOVE digital because it is soooo convenient and perfect for basically everything but I do have a place in my heart for film still and the randomness of it! I feel so bad I have sucked at replying and leaving comments! I need to buckle down and figure it out!! I miss commenting on your blog!!

    1. Thank you!!! I was so excited to get these developed and see what the heck would be on the camera haha it would be fun to give these out at a wedding and then have people turn them in at the end of the night to see your wedding through so many different eyes, random idea that just popped in my head!

  11. I really like this simple, clean design. Esp that "hello" in the sidebar! I haven't had photos printed in forever. All of them are sitting in my computer! I love how you hung them with clothespins.

    1. Thank you sooo much!! And that is another reason I wanted to do this, because I NEVER print pictures and I miss having huge photo albums stuffed with pictures.

  13. I love this idea! I've always thought that one day when we're all old, we're not going to have pictures like we used to because we all used our phones & fancy cameras. There's just something about holding a picture in your hand-- especially one from a disposable camera that you can't edit!
