Oh hello! So here's a little story for you today. I was planning on closing my shop, Framed, for a few weeks because baby is coming soon! I wanted to close today, actually, so I would have time to get orders done in time and not be in labor and like "oh my gosh we have to go mail an order I forgot to send out! It can't be late!!" because literally, I WOULD do that. Be at the hospital stressing out about signs and try to get home to work more haha small business owner probs for sure.

I hated the idea of closing because then the shop would lose momentum and I always have this fear that if I close and then re-open, all of a sudden no one will want my product anymore and it will crash and burn. Very dramatic, I know, but it's my fear!! I even announced closing like 5 times on the Framed instagram page because as much as I didn't want to, I didn't really know what else to do! My mother in law brought up hiring someone to do signs while I figure out the whole mom thing and hiring someone happened to be my second biggest fear!! I thought about it before for 1 second but was too nervous to actually go forward with it. I was scared that if I hired someone, they'd learn the tricks of the trade and then quit and open their own shop haha My fears are pretty creative, I tell ya. I've hired help in the past with a few things and I just felt like it didn't work out very well so that scared me, too! (ps not with my Utah girl, Shaney, just other random things I've hired for down in AZ)

Anyways, once my mother in law put that in my head, I knew I had to just face my fear and take the risk! I'm a freak and listen to/ watch business interviews of people talking about their small shops and how they grew and all of them always say hiring help was so scary but the best decision they ever made for their business! So I posted something in a facebook group I'm in and set up interviews! The first girl we interviewed, I knew she was perfect!! We had a few other interviews set up still but decided to cancel them for now. We want to bring in a second girl in the future and go from there!

Anyways,  just wanted to share that little speal so one day I can come back and remember my crazy fears and then hopefully get to say that hiring help was the best decision I ever made! I'm pretty excited and I can't wait to see how it goes!!

  4. I hope that it works out for ya, girlie! There will be some more signs that I'd like to order from you but not quite sure what I want yet. Plus, it'll give you some time to get things in order between the new employee & upcoming babe. :)

    Have a good weekend! Hugs!

  7. Awww taking risks IS GOOD!! I was just listening to this podcast (Chalene Johnson really good for business/marketing stuff) and she was saying how she used to try to do it all...because if she wasn't then she was worried she'd lose "her" success or something. She had a fear that someone else would take the credit for what she built and she wanted allll that credit. But you can't do it all! And there is nothing wrong with getting help! Make sense? I'm bad at explaining, but it was good. (So good that I listened to it and it really didn't even apply to me lol.) I think this will be perfect because you're so right, you don't want to lose any momentum and you DEFINITELY do not want to miss our on your first few weeks/months as a new Mom because you're worried about all that. It's all good girlfriend, I think you're doing the right thing ;)

    1. Ok I NEED to listen to that podcast then!! Yay! I love that kind of stuff! It's so scary because it's such a big unknown and I never know how it will go but I never will know if I don't try it! That totally makes sense, I am for sure listening to her podcasts! You should be a motivational speaker because now you have me all pumped even more like "yay I can do it!!!!!" haha and plus you're already helping people change their lives right now so it fits you perfectly :) ps sorry I'm the WORST blog friend ever, I read and then forget to comment later and then it's like "is it too late??" basically I suck right now haha

  8. We are moving soon (next two to three months) and PROMISE we will order something once we settle in! haha Take care of little girl and yourself, that's all that matters. The shop will be totally fine in the meanwhile!

Oh, and I watched your snaps last night, but couldn't respond to you on snap chat. You are SO SWEET! How worried you were about that pregnant "homeless" girl. Wow. Most people don't care. The fact that you literally got a bag together and worried and wanted to help, you are a RARE human being. I am so sorry your kindness was taken advantage of when you saw the boyfriend smoking and them walking to a motel. Unfortunately, for ever humble being, there is a bad one. Don't let it dull you. Take it as a lesson, and take pride knowing you cared so much and wanted to do anything you could to help! <3

    1. Girl you know I am happy to make you whatever, whenever!! :) The new girl we hired is so awesome and I'm so happy with her so far, she is a blessing for sure!!

And you are so nice!!! I still don't really know her whole situation so if anything, we just hope her baby turns out ok and that she takes care of herself!! That is really all that even matters in the end, my heart just broke at the thought of having to be in a bad situation when pregnant. Because (as you know!) pregnancy is no joke haha
